Reset Standard User Password

To reset a standard user, you need to login under an account with root access or the root user (preferably the former over the latter) and run the passwd user command. Example:

USER
[travis@server ~]$ sudo passwd travis [sudo] password for travis: Changing password for user travis. New password: Retype new password: passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully. [travis@server ~]$

Or as root

ROOT
[root@server ~]# passwd travis Changing password for user travis. New password: Retype new password: passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully. [root@server ~]#
